Title: At long last, here it is: Anakuro.com, Kuro and my little several-months-in-the-making webcomic pet project. The comic is posted, (most) of the links are live, and there's a brand-new, uncharted forum for all you little forum bunnies to explore, populate, and propagate. I hope you all enjoy your stay, make yourself at home, and invite some friends over. This is just the beginning of what hopefully will be a long, fun, and fulfilling road. Going LiveTitle: Going Live Alright people, after working on the back-end for quite a while, I think its ready to go. I don't really have much to say either than the CMS is handling our input fairly well and everything for now seems to be in order. We were noticing some problems/glitches in the site earlier so if you notice anything please drop us a line through our contact page. I've been testing thoroughly on both IE7 and Firefox3 although haven't had much of a chance to test with Opera nor safari, so if you use any other browser and notice the site breaks, please drop me a line and tell me what is happening (along with what you are using). So far under construction are: About us, Fanart, Blog Archive, Comic Archive, and the Anakuro Store (which in the future will be handled by Zazzle). Thank you all for your support. A couple of site changesTitle: A couple of site changes Hello again readers. We have changed a couple of things on the main site that might be of interest for you. Since our last post, we completed the “Fanart”, “Blog Archive”, and are just about done with the “Contact Us” section. So far we haven’t encountered any severe problems and have found out that we have an amazing demographic of screen resolutions, browsers, and operating systems (we even had a couple of PS3 and Wii browser hits). I noticed that the majority of people use either Firefox or Internet Explorer. Nevertheless if you use Opera or Safari and notice any problems, feel free to drop us a line through our forum or through Contact Us page… once it’s done that is.	2008-07-22	Kuro
Comic Number Three is Up!Title: Comic Number Three is Up! Anakuro.com is now three weeks old, and three comics in I've finally gotten around to drawing something vaguely akin to a background. I'll admit it: backgrounds aren't my strongest point, nor are they my favorite thing to draw. Site problemsTitle: Site problems Recently the Anakuro.com hosting server has been having some problems (in specific our SQL server). You may have noticed that at specific points, if you try to access anakuro.com, or the forum, you will receive a "Too many sql connections" error. I am still trying to troubleshoot this problem and am doing everything I can to minimize the frequency of said error. If anybody else notices any other errors on the site, please notify the administrators (Ana or I) through the forum or through our E-mail addresses. Where's the Comic?Title: Where's the Comic? Weeell...Kuro and I went to visit family during our fall break from classes, and we didn't have the time nor the internet connection to finish up this week's comic. I'll try to post something for filler in the next couple of days, but the actual comic will resume next Tuesday. These past several days, I've been having to devote almost all of my free time to a project for my animation class. Ew...what's wrong with the comic?Title: Ew...what's wrong with the comic? Um, about that... My tablet pen, which first began showing signs of illness several weeks ago, finally bit the dust over Thanksgiving break. Without it, it's darn near impossible for me to get the level of detail and range of values I need to finish the comic :( As soon as I'm able to get a new pen, I'll go back in and touch it up. Introducing...Pepper!Title: Introducing...Pepper! Today's comic is extra long in honor of the newest (and first quadrupedal) addition to the Anakuro crew, Pepper the ferret! Site UpdatesTitle: Site Updates Hello again people. I have finally manged to get off my butt and get something done. I've finished the "about us" section and added a color chibi version of human Ana and I. Also added the comic archive but note that I have given up on doing anything cool with it. I did try to create a flash interface for browsing the comics while seeing small thumbnails fly by as you scroll, but it became much too user unfriendly. AK transferring hosting companiesTitle: AK transferring hosting companies Hello everyone. Riakt Studios (our hosting company) is going out of business and we need to transfer our domain and hosting. So during this transaction, AK will be down for a bit and the forum too. This also means that anything on the forum that isn't backed up (probably a day's worth), will be lost. I'm not sure when this is going to happen, just don't freak out ^_~ when it does. Meet Fiona, the secretary at Ana's yet-to-be-named graphic design company and Anakuro's very own despicable ho-bag! :) She's been done so many times, she's pretty much a walking cliché. She's so morally depraved, her legs cross themselves (But not for long, amirite?). She's so loose, her- ...all right, you get the point. This is a joke about inbreeding.Title: This is a joke about inbreeding. You know...in case you didn't get it. If you did, I applaud you, because while it was clear and coherent and, well, actually funny in my head, now that it's on paper it's just...not. There's no point in telling a joke if you have to explain it afterwards, but because this particular joke has an element of truth to it that is decidedly unfunny, I think it needs an explanation. White tigers like Fiona are not a separate subspecies (or in her case, race), but are rather tigers that are homozygous for a recessive gene that causes the distinctive coloration. Because of the nature of its inheritance, white tigers are rarely seen in the wild. When a homozygous white tiger breeds with a normal orange tiger, the resulting cubs are carriers of the white fur trait, but unless the orange parent was a carrier itself, all of the babies will display the normal orange fur coloration. The only way to ensure that an all-white litter is born is to breed two white tigers together, a feat that is occasionally accomplished in captivity through inbreeding. Some tigers bred in this manner are born relatively healthy, but others suffer mental and physical handicaps due to reduced genetic diversity and the expression of latent deleterious genes. While I have no problem picking fun at kissing cousins, people who claim that "incest is wincest," and anthropomorphic animals that choose to knock up their sisters, there's nothing funny about forcing an animal to breed with its relative for the sake of producing a pretty circus attraction. ...I felt kind of sorry for Fiona while I was writing this, but I got over it pretty quick.
